Desert

The Desert area is pretty straightforward. At the end, there is a short dialogue with Exdeath's minions.

Note: Baldanders has a very small chance of dropping a unique weapon Rune Chime (2nd best bell-type weapon). This bell boosts all elemental magic when equipped (similar to Magnus Rod).

Boss: Calofisteri

She counters physical attacks with Drain. If you use magic on her, she'll cast Reflect the next turn and keep casting buffs on your reflected ally and bounce them back on herself. It's an easy and standard fight; any strategies will do.

  • Spellblade + Silence will disable all her magic.
  • You can also summon Carbuncle, then cast Firaga + Magnus Rod (or any element you prefer) on your entire party and bounce it back to her; it'll deal 4 times the damage. Use White Wind or Hi-Potion to heal to bypass the Reflect.
  • Use any spells that cannot be bounced back or use summons.
  • Physical attacks also work well; you just have to keep healing.

Boss: Omega

Guaranteed Drop: Omega Badge

This is one of the super-bosses in the game. Since it is visible on the map, you can avoid it entirely.

The boss automatically has Reflect and Shell at the beginning, and they are permanent, so using magic spells is tricky to pull off. It has the most powerful magic in the game like Atomic Ray and Wave Cannon, which can easily KO your entire party. Not to mention its speed; it can attack multiple times between your turns. You won't even last 2 turns.

However, there is a specific strategy that works at your current level. Since the boss is vulnerable to Stop and Lightning, we're going to exploit these weaknesses.

Preparation

  • Team lineup: 3 Bards (or Sing ability). Among the 3 Bards, one should have access to Time Magic Hastega. One Mystic Knight with Two-Handed ability (it's fine if you don't have it) equipped with Enhancer.
  • If one of your Bards has the ability to equip Katana, then I highly recommend you equip Masamune. It allows you to start the battle with full ATB.
  • If you have slow hands, reducing the battle speed is highly recommended. Go to Inventory -> Configuration -> Battle Speed, set to "Very Slow".

During the battle:

  • The boss has a 33% chance of using Atomic Ray. If this is the case, restart and try again.
  • If one of your Bards has Masamune equipped, then you are guaranteed to go first by using Romeo's Ballad to stop the boss immediately. However, the Stop debuff won't last long, not even a full turn.
  • So three Bards take turns to sing Romeo's Ballad. The right way to do it is to watch your Bards' ATB gauge. Your next Bard should be about 60 to 70% ATB gauge before using Romeo's Ballad again. DO NOT use all three Romeo's Ballad at the same time.
  • Mystic Knight's first turn is to charge Thundaga; the rest is to keep attacking the boss. You should be able to deal 9999 damage if you have Two-Handed ability.

If you don't like this boring strategy, you can avoid it and come back later when you are strong enough to challenge it the proper way.

Library

This library doesn't have any encounters, but one easy boss. Examine the boss on the table to start the battle. The other two on the shelves are regular books with information. Once you defeat the boss, keep the book opened and leave the library.

Boss: Apanda

Steal: Ash
Guaranteed Drop: Ash

Another easy boss. It's weak against fire, so having 4 Black Mages (or Black Magic ability + Magnus Rod and Flame Rod), this boss will die in 1 or 2 turns.

Tower

Just a linear path to The Rift.
