In 1573, Japan is plunged into chaos as the warlord Nobunaga Oda, resurrected by the demonic Genma, seeks to conquer the land. After the Genma massacre his home village, Jubei Yagyu, a wandering swordsman, sets out on a quest for vengeance. Along the way, he encounters a diverse cast of allies—including a spear-wielding warrior, a bandit, a ninja, and a gunfighter—who may aid or oppose him depending on his actions. Together, they confront the Genma threat, uncovering secrets about Jubei’s lineage and his destiny as an Onimusha, a warrior with the power to harness demon souls.
The story blends revenge, fate, and loyalty against a backdrop of feudal war and supernatural forces, with multiple branching paths that offer different perspectives and endings.
