Second errand is to get the Sylph summon.
Frying Pan
- Go back to the surface, Fabul Castle.
- Go to the west tower, top floor, then talk to Yang's wife.
Sylph Summon
- Come back to the Underworld -> Sylvan Cave -> Sylvan Cottage.
- Inside, talk to Yang and choose "Frying Pan".
- Rydia learns Sylph summon.
Returning the Frying Pan
After you complete the quest, go back to Fabul Castle, talk to Yang's wife again, and return the Frying Pan. She'll give you back something more useful, a Knife.
Well, what is special about this knife is that it can be thrown by Edge to deal a fixed 9999 damage.
Odin Summon (Skippable for later game)
Our third errand is to get the Odin summon, however, you are not strong enough to defeat him with brute strength yet. That's why I moved this section to 40. Odin Summon (Optional).
For those who want to challenge Odin now rather than waiting for later in the game, I have a specific strategy for you.
Use 40. Odin Summon (Optional) section for map reference on how to get to the boss, then use the following strategy:
Boss: Odin
This boss can wipe out your entire party in one blow at your current level. The trick to defeating him is to kill him as quickly as possible before he uses Zantetsuken:
- Odin has 20001 HP in total. Start with Edge throwing Knife immediately, it will always deal 9999 HP. Now we have 10002 HP left to deal with.
- Rydia casts Thundara or Thundaga (if you have it) repeatedly, which deals roughly 4000 damage.
- Cecil attacks normally.
- Rosa uses Blue Fang (item), which deals around 4000 damage.
- Finally, Edge's turn again, this time uses Blitz, which deals another 4000 damage.
With this strategy, you can kill Odin in one turn. However, you'll lose the unique item, Knife, forever. The choice is yours.
