Before we go further, I highly recommend you level up a little bit.
IMPORTANT: Non‑Metallic Equipment
Before you go any further, prepare the following equipment for everyone.
In the Magnetic Cavern, wearing any metallic gear will cause paralysis.
If you don't have Wizard's Hat or Gaia Gear, you can buy them from Mysidia, or replace them with Feathered Cap and Leather Garb.
Great Bow can be purchased from the Town of Troia.
For Yang, you can equip any elemental claws.

- Cecil, Tellah, Cid → back row
- Yang → front row
Chocobo Village
From Troia, head straight north and follow the mountain range until you see a river and a tiny forest.
The Chocobo Village is inside that forest.
- Collect 3 hidden items.
- Find and talk to the Black Chocobo.
Chests/Items:
- I-039: Gysahl Greens – bottom-right area.
- I-040: Gysahl Greens – northeast forest, hidden area.
- I-041: Gysahl Greens – northeast forest, hidden area.
Magnetic Cavern
- Follow the map.
- Fairy Claw deals huge damage to giant‑type monsters, so equip it on Yang immediately when you get it on B3.
- After defeating the boss, pick up the crystal, then leave the crystal room.
- Outside the crystal room, use Emergency Exit or Teleport to leave the cave.
Bestiary Checklist:
Boss: Dark Elf (Dark Dragon)
The first round is unwinnable.
After the cutscene, RE‑EQUIP everyone with your best equipment and reorder:
- Cecil, Yang, Cid → front row
- Tellah → back row
Now the real battle begins.
Everyone keeps attacking while Tellah focuses on healing.
When its HP is low, it transforms into Dark Dragon, but the strategy stays the same.
Chests/Items:
- C-126: Hi-Potion – B1, northeast chest.
- C-127: Unicorn Horn – B1, near the exit.
- C-128: Ether – B2, west chest.
- C-129: 2000 gil – B2 (north room), left chest.
- C-130: Ether – B2 (north room), right chest.
- C-131: Hi-Potion – B3 (south room), left chest.
- C-132: Spider's Silk – B3 (south room), middle chest.
- C-133: Hourglass – B3 (south room), right chest.
- C-134: Fairy Claw – B3 (north room).
- C-135: Emergency Exit – B4, northwest chest.
