Final Fantasy III (3D Remake) Banner

Introduction

Before you continue my guide, I would like to take a few notes on some symbols and specific annotations. As you already know that Final Fantasy III (3D Remake) doesn't have dungeon maps, so that I re-created them using 8-bit 2D style to visualize directions, chest locations, and other important spots/people like MogNet or bosses etc. On top of that, I will also list chests and monsters in specific area (missable monsters). Below is a few notes you will find it useful:

  • A number in parentheses: represents the order of destination you have to go.
  • Stairs icon: represents an entrance from one floor/dungeon to another.
  • Door icon: represents a door or the first entrance.
  • Person icon: represents an important character, it can be a boss, an NPC that you need to talk to.
  • Gold coin icon: represents an item that is not a chest, usually it's a hidden item.
  • (trap): means that there is a monster inside the chest.
  • (Optional): means that the section is not required for the story to progress. But you must do it for perfect game.

Here is a list of areas/dungeons that will not be accessible after certain points in the game listed in order of progression, so make sure that you collect all chests and bestiary list in that specific areas/dungeons:

  1. Castle Hein: Once you get inside, you cannot come out until you defeat Hein. After defeated Hein, you will lose access to the castle.
  2. Wracked Ship: Can only enter once the first you sail to the Surface World. There is no monsters, however, there are 2 chests you need to collect here.
  3. Sea Surfaces: There are 3 sea surfaces, Floating Continent's inner sea, outer sea, and Surface World's sea. You won't be able to sail after losing the. Enterprise. You will lose your Enterprise when you fly over Saronia.
  4. Lake Dohr: As long as you don't kill Leviathan, you can get in/out any time.
  5. Doga's Grotto: You cannot enter this dungeon after killing Doga and Unei, so be sure to collect everything.

Quicksave

Quicksave feature is your life savior in this game, since you cannot save using "Save" in dungeons. However, beware of two things about this Quicksave:

  1. IMPORTANT: If you get killed (game over) and you wait for the game to return back to the menu, you will LOSE your Quicksave. To prevent this, immediately press "ESC" key or "Start" button and "Quit" the game completely BEFORE the it returns to the main menu. This is crucial during the final dungeons because you want to make a quicksave before the boss fights as often as possible to avoid getting killed and have to rerun an entire dungeon again.
  2. When you make a Quicksave, you'll be forced to return to the main menu. However, the game itself doesn't provide a quit option which make this also the quit option.

Perfect Game?

Decide whether you want to complete the game with 100% max stats and collect all items or not is crucial from the beginning because it requires you to level up all 22 jobs and maintain your character levels below 40. Unlike other Final Fantasy games, the only stats you care about is HP, other stats is predetermined based on character level. Please read Perfect Game section for more detail before you continue.

Simply put, whenever you obtain new jobs from a Crystal, go back to an area where monsters are the weakest, preferably Altar Cave, and level up your job to 99 before continue. There are a few benefits to this approach:

  1. You'll have enough job abilities in your disposal to use when you face tough enemies.
  2. Your damage will increase dramatically because your damage is based on your character level + your job level.
  3. It'll make your life so much easier, grinding job level from 1 to 99 for 22 times is so much boring.

I'll put reminders along the way when you obtain jobs and need to go back to grind job levels.

Tips & Tricks

  • Some weapons can be used as an an item during battles to cast magic Items -> Up Arrow -> Select Weapon. For example, Fire Staff can cast Fire.
  • When buying items, you'll get 5% discount for every 4 items. For example, if you buy 15 items, 12 will be applied 5% discount.
  • Whenever you change a job, you'll be temporary nerf; some of your stats are decreased. You can see it by "double down-arrow" next to the character on the inventory screen. If you select on "Status" menu, you'll see what specific stats are reduced. You'll be back to normal after a few battles.
